A
town of the largest karst tableland and limestone
caves in Japan
Strange molding created by the lapse of time
You can touch the mystery of nature in Shuhodo and Akiyoshidai
About 350 million years ago, the shelf of coral in the sea was
changed to limestone, and the movement in the earth's crust allowed
push up the limestone on the ground, the karst tableland of Akiyoshidai.
Hills with appearance of limestone called "karrenfeld" and the
cone-shaped doline make the strange landscape. Shuhodo that spreads
about 100 m below Akiyoshidai is the largest in the Orient. Unique
moldings such as one hundred tables or golden pole appear continuously.
The "Adventure Course" is popular to explore in the caves with
lights available to participants.

period.
Let's walk along the Ichinosaka River that has a cultured atmosphere
of Kyoto.

The Ouchis has achieved a level of prosperity in the Muromachi
period and introduced the culture of Kyoto into this land. Regardless
of tangible and intangible cultural property including the five-story
pagoda of Ruriko Temple and Joei Temple, the heritages are popular
even now. There are some prefectural museums in the leafy central
area of city. Yuda hot spring has the Memorial of Chuya Nakahara
who was born there. The new Xavier Memorial Hall is a symbol
