the Hori River surrounding the Matsue Castle, there remain the
old samurai residences in Shiomi-nawate. Yakumo Koizumi lived
in one district of residences. "Hori River Tour" which allows
you to enjoy the views from the Hori River on the pleasure boat
is very popular. The sunset seen from the Lake Shinji is very
beautiful. There are Matsue Vogel Park and Louis C. Tiffani Garden
Museum on the lakeside.

This town is the original place of myths and the center of ancient
Izumo region. The Izumo Shrine that enshrined Okuninushino-mikoto
and the locations for myth stories such as "Kunibiki myth" are
scattered. In Hinosaki located in the westernmost point of Shimane
Peninsula, the reef extends and the white Hinosaki Lighthouse
stands. In the mountain area, there are Tachikue Canyon that
is famous for curious rocks along the mountain stream and beautiful
autumn leaves, and hot springs. You should visit the "Izumo Culture
Tradition Museum" which consisted of the landowner's residence
dismantled and reconstructed.
